Please give better directions

My husband put these together and spliced them into our landscape lighting. The directions didn’t say how to connect the numbers together. He had to open them up and splice it together because there’s only one wire. Luckily he knew how to do it, but I’m sure others might have a hard time. They need an in and out wire.
